Maranatha Bible Church is a product of the church planting efforts of Chinese Bible Mission, a missions organization involved in starting churches, camping ministries for youth and conferences for the college and career age individuals. MBC is the result of the merger of Chinese Bible Fellowship Church in the San Ramon Valley and Chinese Faith Bible Church in the Tri-City area. Chinese Bible Fellowship Church was started when Pastor Sen Wong of Chinese Bible Mission felt a burden to reach to the English-speaking Chinese of the San Ramon Valley. The first service was held on February 9, 1997 in the home of one of the church families. Since then, our services have been held in various locations around the San Ramon Valley. Chinese Faith Bible Church began in 1997 and was formerly known as East Bay Bible Church. EBBC was a church planted by Chinese Bible Mission and had its humble beginnings back in 1989, when the congregation met in the home of Pastor Sen & June Wong. With a change in pastor and location in 1997, the church also changed its name to Chinese Faith Bible Church. However, its goal was always the same: to reach the many English-speaking Chinese in the Tri-City Area (Fremont, Union City, and Newark) for Christ. Though CFBC has had to change locations since then, God has kept and preserved the faithful core of believers during these past years, some of whom were original members from 1989. God, in His perfect sovereignty, joined CFBC and its sister CBM church, CBFC, to become one church on Sunday, July 7, 2002. Now, the beloved people of both churches can serve together as one, working shoulder-to-shoulder, hand-in-hand to reach the many Chinese throughout the East Bay for the glory of God.
